Ballet Flats to Die For

Happy Friday Everyone!!
I am not a frequent wearer of high heels. It probably started when I reached 5'7" at the awkward age of  11 and continued with the fact that I hate to be uncomfortable. I have been an avid wearer of Tory Burch Revas for many years but if we are being honest as much as I love the look, they kill my feet! Which brings us to my two favorite ballet flats as of late…

Salvatore Ferragamo My Joy Flats. These are not an every day purchase, but my sister found an amazing deal on these in my size and they are the single most comfortable flat I have ever worn. I will need them in every color, fortunately for me and my bank account, they don't come in a huge variety. Who doesn't love a cute bow on a classic flat?

Tieks. These are a close second in the comfort and wear-ability department. On my first wear I sported them all day without incident. They come in the cutest little teal box with a sparkly flower, hand written note, and a bag to put your terribly uncomfortable heels in when you need to make the switch mid-evening. I typically wear an 8 or 8.5 and took an 8 in these and chose the camel color. I will be adding more colors to my collections ASAP.

Have you tried either of these? What ballet flats do you love?

Cashmere, Cashmere, Cashmere

I have been investing in a few pieces of cashmere the last couple of winters. Although, living in Florida it really does not seem practical to buy expensive winter wear, we travel to Ohio, Pennsylvania and Illinois fairly regularly to visit family and friends and even in Florida we see temperatures in the 40s, even if those temps are fleeting. We have several fall weddings next season and I am always trying to preempt any wardrobe crisis that would force me to pay full price (shopping is easily justified around here). Right now is the perfect time to stock up as most winter items are on sale as spring collections are flooding the stores. I recently picked up two cashmere pieces from Nordstrom.

This Halogen Cashmere Sweater is a great piece for the price. It does feel slightly itchy as stated in a few of the reviews but it is a good buy in my opinion. I chose this heather camel color and think it will be perfect with jeans under a leather jacket in the fall.

I am so pleased with this Nordstrom Cashmere Scarf purchase. The reviews were fantastic and they did not lead me astray. The material is so incredibly soft and luxurious. You need this, probably in multiple colors. I am considering stocking up for my gift closet as I think anyone would be delighted to receive this as a gift!(You can thank me when you have just the right (affordable) thing for your mother-in-law next Christmas)

Wish List Wednesday

Hi All! I'm going to do some Wednesday features, sometimes a wish list, somedays a glimpse of wanderlust etc. This week we have a wish list! I have been coveting these 5 items…

What items are you wishing for today?

A Year In Books.

This year my goal is to read as many books as possible. In reality this may amount to 12 books (my minimum goal). I have not read for fun since starting law school five years ago. Now that I am out of school, I read all day for work which does not leave a big desire to read in my free time. I used to read everything I could get my hands on (as long as they were not textbooks). Hold me accountable and feel free to share your picks and suggestions, I'd love to hear them!

January:

Me Before You is exactly as the book jacket says "heartbreaking." This is somewhat of a heavy/ reflective read and a definite page turner. A love story with an unexpected complication. This is good for winter weekends curled up on the couch. I couldn't put this one down. Audience: well suited for a female crowd Stars: 4.5/5

The Geography of Bliss by Eric Weiner is on my list for February!

January Beauty Must Haves

This year I finally attained the much coveted Sephora "VIB" Beauty Insider status. Naturally, that means I have purchased my fair share of products this year. Below are my January Must Haves...

1. Clarisonic Mia 2: this has been an absolute game changer. My face has never felt so clean ! I have been using this for about 7 months now and my complexion is much improved (goodbye adult acne)!

2. Urban Decay Naked 2: I have 2 of the 3 Naked palettes and this one is probably my favorite (only because I have not yet bit the bullet on the Naked 3). A daily must.

3. YSL Lip Stain: I have this in "Fuchsia Tomboy," in my experience this does not last all day, but it will get you through coffee and to lunch with some noticeable color still in tact, that is a win in my book! This is not sticky and does not smudge/smear, win number 2.

4. Benefit Hello Flawless SPF 15: I have this is "Never Settle Petal"this powder is amazing. It has wonderful coverage and it is build able. The downside I will say is that you do not get a lot of product. I purchased this the beginning of January and with daily use I can already see the bottom of the tin. I will no doubt repurchase but may have to find a different everyday product because the price point is not wonderful.

5.Smashbox Photo Finish Lid Primer: I have been living under a rock and just discovered the wonders of lip primer. This one is my favorite and the price point is not terrible for how well this stuff works. My eyeliner used to be all gathered under my eyes by 2pm and now I leave the office looking like I just put it on. I will be buying this over and over again.
